Entertainment Systems
What are the main
components of an Alarm System?
A Control Panel with battery backup, Keypad, door
and window contacts or transmitters, and motion detectors. We also consider a monitored smoke/heat sensor
and carbon monoxide sensor to be a vital part of your home security system, but not
all companies do.
What are other components might be added to a basic
system?
Depending on your needs, concerns and lifestyle, you may
want to add a flood/temp probe, carbon monoxide sensor,
glass breaks or any number of accessories. It all
depends on what you are looking for. We customize to
suit your needs.
How does the alarm communicate with ADT's central
station?
All alarms are monitored through the phone lines. Use of
a Digital Alarm Radio is required if you do not have an analog phone.
Even if you do have an analog phone, many customers
purchase a Digital Alarm Radio for protection in the event of a
phone line cut.
Where is the ADT central station?
ADT has five central stations in the United States. They
are located in Denver, Colorado - Rochester, New York -
Dallas, Texas - Jacksonville, Florida and Kansas City,
Missouri.
Is it better to have my alarm monitored by a nearby
station?
Proximity is irrelevant. ADT's stations operate 24 hours
a day, signals are received electronically. It makes no
difference if you are 1 mile or 1000 miles from the
station.
What happens if my alarm goes off?
A trained ADT dispatcher will call your home to verify
if you have set the alarm off by mistake asking for your
password. If there is no answer or the correct password
is not given, the police are immediately notified. Your
control panel will identify which component triggered
the alarm (front door, motion sensor, etc.) The police
are given accurate information about where the intrusion
took place. ADT then contacts you and/or designated
friends or relatives. All of this data instantly appears
once a signal is received.
Will I be charged for false alarms?
ADT never charges for false alarms, but your local
police may if dispatched often due to false alarms. This
is one of the reasons so many of our customers choose
the TWO-Way Voice option.
I have smoke detectors, why do I need a monitored
one?
Adding Smoke and fire protection to the system assures
that the fire department will be called, should there be
smoke or fire when you are not home or if you are
asleep. Smoke detectors are monitored 24 hours a day,
even if you forget to arm your system.
What happens if we lose electrical power in our home?
The system has a reserve battery housed in the control
panel for this emergency. It is recharged when the power
returns.
How difficult is the system to operate?
Our system is so easy to use, a child can operate this system.
ASE will not leave your premises until you feel
comfortable in how to operate your system. A four digit pin number
allows full control.
Can the system be set at night, or when the kids are
home?
Yes. The "Stay Mode" disarms the interior motion
detector(s) for freedom of movement within the home,
while keeping the perimeter armed.
What about Pets?
Specially designed and positioned Pet Immune Motion
Detectors are used so that your pets do not
trigger false alarms. Ask your ASE representative
about interior trap protection.
Can I summon the police or fire departments in an
emergency?
Yes, all of our keypads have emergency Police and Fire
Panic Buttons.
What about service or warranties?
Defects in workmanship and parts are covered entirely
for the first 90 days by ASE Security,
following the 90 day period, ADT has the same coverage
with the addition of a $25.00 Trip Charge.
Is there a contract period?
Yes, ADT has a 36 month monitoring agreement; this
guarantees the amortization of the free equipment and
activation.
Do I need an alarm permit?
Some cities do require them. Some cities provide them at
no cost, while others do charge a nominal fee.
Who will install my system and how long does it take?
A licensed, insured installer will visit your home. A
typical basic system can be installed in about 2 - 4
hours.
Will my insurance company give me a discount for
installing a monitored alarm system?
Yes. Discounts vary between 5-20% with the maximum
discount given to those who have monitored fire as well
as burglary.
What if I don't own my home, have questionable credit
or won't sign a three year contract? Can I still get a
system?
We believe EVERYONE is entitled to protection. We will
do our best to provide you will the most affordable
system. While we may not be able to give you a system
for FREE, since we won't be reimbursed by ADT. We have
many customers with whom we have worked out payment
arrangements to purchase a system at the lowest cost
possible.
Who is ASE Security?
A privately owned alarm company that markets exclusively
for ADT under contract as an authorized ADT Dealer.
